New Starter and Pro customers start on credits from November 1, 2026. Existing paying customers keep their current plans and prices.

Annual plans include 2 months free. Annual credits are granted at purchase and each renewal. Monthly credits reset monthly and do not roll over.

Most APIs use credits per successful lookup. Bulk Recalls uses 2 credits per unique VIN submitted in an accepted batch, whether or not recalls are found. Ownership uses 5 credits per returned ownership record; YMM Options bulk variants use 1 credit per distinct model returned. One Time Report uses 50 credits per completed report. Credit costs in the table are base rates. International Plate requests with `country=ES` and `require_vin=true` use two billing units. US searches without a state use a separate match-count billing path; see the endpoint reference for the `count` and `billed_credits` fields.

## Sandbox and extra credits

The sandbox includes 100 free credits, one time. Sandbox customers need an active Starter or Pro plan before buying extra credits. Extra credits are sold in increments of 100, normally at 6¢ per credit on Starter and 5¢ on Pro. Extra credits are valid for 12 months. ## What happens at zero?

Requests stop when credits run out unless auto-recharge is enabled. Auto-recharge is off by default, with a $50 default when enabled. You are never charged for credits you did not buy. [Manage auto-recharge](https://carsxe.com/dashboard/billing).

Failed lookups and no-data errors do not use credits. Successful zero-recall responses are billable. YMM Options uses a minimum of 1 credit per successful response, including empty results. Bulk Recalls bills each unique submitted VIN. New Enterprise deals are quoted in credits; existing Enterprise customers can opt into credits at renewal.
