DealershipTrade In

Dealership trade-in equity from Specs, History, and Market Value

Wire three existing CarsXE endpoints into the trade-in desk: specifications for the vehicle, history for title brands, and market value for the number you put on the worksheet.

In short: A desk manager enters a VIN (or plate). Specs confirm year/make/model/trim, History flags salvage or odometer risk, and Market Value returns trade-in, wholesale, and retail so the desk can quote equity in one flow.

Implementation steps

  1. 1

    Resolve the vehicle

Start with a VIN. If the desk only has a plate, decode the plate first, then call Specs so year, make, model, and trim are deterministic before anyone talks price.

    bash
    curl -G https://api.carsxe.com/specs \
      -d key=YOUR_API_KEY \
      -d vin=WBAFR7C57CC811956
  2. 2

    Check history risk

Call History for title brands, salvage, and the odometer timeline. A branded title or unexplained mileage jump should change the offer before Market Value is treated as equity.

    bash
    curl -G https://api.carsxe.com/history \
      -d key=YOUR_API_KEY \
      -d vin=WBAFR7C57CC811956
  3. 3

    Price trade-in equity

Call Market Value for retail, wholesale, trade-in, and auction. Subtract payoff (from your DMS) to show equity. Do not invent a fourth comps source — use the same VIN the desk already resolved.

    bash
    curl -G https://api.carsxe.com/v2/marketvalue \
      -d key=YOUR_API_KEY \
      -d vin=WBAFR7C57CC811956
