Our benefits

Dropdown-Ready

One endpoint powers Year, Make, Model, and Variant dropdowns in your UI — one API call per level.

One Layer Per Call

Each request returns a single list. Add year, make, and model step by step for better results — including reversed lookups like which years a vehicle was sold.

Deduplicated Variants

Combined Model+Trim display strings, deduplicated and ready to render.

Lightning-Fast API

Built for consistently low latency, even under heavy dropdown traffic.

Where YMM Options fits

One endpoint for every Year, Make, Model, and Variant dropdown in your product.

Marketplace & Classifieds Search

Power cascading Year → Make → Model → Variant search filters on a vehicle marketplace or classifieds site, without maintaining your own vehicle taxonomy.

Insurance & Finance Quote Flows

Let applicants select their exact trim or variant during a quote or application flow, so downstream pricing and risk models get an accurate vehicle match.

Dealership Inventory & DMS Tools

Build vehicle intake and inventory forms with accurate make, model, and variant options, without maintaining your own vehicle taxonomy.

Fleet & Rental Onboarding

Give fleet managers and rental operators a fast way to register the exact vehicle variant when onboarding a new asset.

However you ask, one endpoint has the answer

You provideYou get back
NothingEvery available year
A yearEvery make sold that year
A makeEvery model for that make
A model and year (no make)Variants for that model in that year — add make if the name appears under multiple makes
A make and modelEvery Model+Trim variant for that exact vehicle
A make and model, asking for years insteadWhich years that vehicle was sold in
A year and make, with dimension=variantsEvery variant for that make that year — billed per model (`modelCount`)

For developers

Scroll & Realize the power.

Seeing is believing. Below is a live response for a 2026 Toyota Tacoma — every Model+Trim variant, deduplicated and ready to drop into a menu.

Flexible Dimension Queries
Request years, makes, models, trims, or variants. Bulk variants (`dimension=variants` + year + make) return every variant for that make — billed per model (`modelCount`).
Structured Variant Strings
Combined Model+Trim strings like "Tacoma TRD Pro", deduplicated and ready to display.
Consistently Fast
Every response returns quickly, keeping your dropdowns feeling instant even at high volume.

What is the YMM Options API?
The YMM Options API returns one list per call — years, makes, models, or variants — from our vehicle database. Add year, make, and model filters step by step to populate cascading dropdown menus in your UI.
How does the dimension parameter work?
Set dimension to years, makes, models, trims, or variants to get exactly that one array back when the required filters are present. If you omit dimension, the response is inferred from make, model, and year — always a single layer.
What happens if I don't supply any filters?
With no filters and no dimension, the API returns every available year. Add a year to get makes for that year, add a make to get models — one API call per dropdown level.
Why would I use dimension=variants instead of just omitting dimension?
Omitting dimension with make and model returns variants for one vehicle. Set dimension=variants with year and make (no model) for every variant of that make in one response. That path bills 1 unit per model — see modelCount.
How is YMM Options billed?
Most calls cost 1 unit. Exception: dimension=variants with year + make (no model) costs 1 unit per model. The response includes modelCount — that is the amount billed.
Why do trims and variants require a model?
For a single vehicle, trims and variants require a model filter (and year when make is omitted). Exception: dimension=variants with year and make returns all variants for that make without a model filter. Requesting variants with only make (no year) still returns models with guidance on what to add next.
What SDKs and languages are supported?
CarsXE provides official SDKs for JavaScript, Python, PHP, Ruby, and Go. You can also call the REST API directly from any language that supports HTTP GET requests.
